About Janardan Swami kHer

A Saint of Dattatreya Parampara : PP Janardan Swami : A Born Yogi

P.P Janardan Swami was born on 23rd June 1927 at Baroda , Gujarat at his maternal uncle’s place. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth .His father, Dr. Shankar Kher was a renowned  Doctor and Thiosophist. But due to his early voluntary retirement from state service, fortune took a turn and the young Janardan Swami had to undergo a great hardship. He had to shoulder the responsibility of the family . Yet his devotional  inclination lead him  to the spiritual path on a remarkable journey.

He experienced grace of God upon him right from the childhood. At the mere age of four he had an extraordinary experience of an Eagle (A vehicle of Lord Vishnu) waking him up at midnights and taking his subtle body to various places of pilgrimage and guide him to navigate the minds of devotees .

At the age of 13, God’s blessings bestowed upon Swami when he got an opportunity to meet  PP Rangavdhoot Swami from Nareshwar who was a great realized soul of Datta Sampraday .

At the age of 14, he received blessings from Sri Kishna and he went into a state of total thought-free mind with perfect peace. Soon after this he had an extraordinary vision of Mahakali and a divine realisation of a cosmic glow radiating from his body was experienced.. following which he entered into the state of profound peace or trance (Samadhi) for 14 hours.

Meeting with renowned saint Ammu Maiyya of Ahemabad and her blessings transformed his life. She instantly recognised him  as incarnation of God Dattatrey and Swami too had a grand Darshan of Bhavani Mata in her. She had realised that a spiritual soul is evolving in him and needs to be nurtured with divine guidance.

Later on during his Government job at Tilkwada , he was blessed by great Saint PP Tembe Swami . It’s due to His grace only Swamiji could reach Baroda wading through the flood just in time to meet and fulfill the promise given to his ailing mother . And then on his reputation to keep the promise given to his disciples is intact till date.

The most important milestone in his spiritual journey came across around 1975 when his mother in law who was a disciple of PP Nana Maharaj Taranekar , Indore , took Swamiji to him . PP Nana Maharaj blessed him with Shaktipat Diksha which invoked many yogik kriyas and Ashta Satwik Bhav in him .

His personality began to change. PP Nana Maharaj also predicted that soon Janardan Swami would be blessed by Akkalkot Swami Samarth Maharaj , which happened around March 1976 . Also Shri Datta Prabhu blessed him by sitting in his Adnya Chakra . Soon Swami started to guide many seekers at Dhyan Mandir at his Samarth Vihar residence in Baroda and Jambhekar Wada in Ahmedabad. This noble journey started to see gradual growth and his work expanded in many cities of Gujarat as well as in Pune , Mumbai ,other cities of Maharashtra,Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

Shortly following this, disciples started to seek his advice & blessings .He continuously prayed to Swami Samarth to give him the strength, which led him to go into the state of Samadhi in whichever place .

Around 1980 he took voluntary retirement from his Govt job and on Swami Samarth’s command devote his time fully to meditation and work for the betterment of people. Following that , he started to travel a lot .

A regular practice of Datta sampradaya is to stay at one place not for more than 3 days . Janardan Swami took great efforts and used to plan his tours to cover different cities and to visit his disciples places ,sometimes as much as two places in one day .Not just all the members of the family but also their friends ,neighbors, relatives used to gather around him during his visit and garner as much joy as possible.

His pursuit for the betterment of his disciples continued , for which he was travelling exhaustively be it by car , bus , railway or by plane. God has different plan on mind when a distant village named Takerkheda at the banks of river Tapi  in Dhule district of Maharashtra, the old and ruined Shri Datta temple there in particular was waiting for Him to come and take the mantle of shaping the place as sacred as Shri Kshetra Ganagapur and making it easy for people around to visit and worship Lord Dattatreya there .Priest and the Owner of the temple Shri Bhikaji Maharaj Pandharkar donated this temple and the surrounding land to Swamiji .

Swamiji restored and rebuilt the temple , developed the land and a beautiful pilgrimage started taking shape . This Swamiji’s abode ,which till date people visiting & his disciples find as their own home & they can experience supreme bliss and heavenly joy there
